“The Wisdom Development and Upgrading Project “Ayutthaya Patterned Fabric”
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University (ARU) is a higher education institution with an emphasis on area-based and community development. The university helps in the development of local communities through the application of its research and academic knowledge. In terms of local development, the institution has launched a project to develop and upgrade products derived from the local wisdom of residents. One of these projects is the “Ayutthaya Patterned Fabric.” The fabric, known as “Chulapat,” originates from an ancient patterned cloth used in religious ceremony and has been lost to history. Fortunately, with the collaboration of the residents of the Wat Yan Ang Thong Temple area, the municipality, local community leaders, the Ayutthaya Studies Institute, and ARU, the historical patterned fabric was able to be revived and used to create new products for the benefit of the local community.
